Who will it be?
Many hoped the Spring Game would provide an opportunity for one of Kansas State's quarterbacks to take a step towards becoming the Wildcats starter in 2006. Virtually all of the Wildcat signal callers played well, however, leaving fans and media alike still wondering just who will lead the Wildcats when the 2006 season kicks off Sept. 2.
THE GOOD: This we know: Kansas State will have a capable quarterback under center next season. The Wildcats appear to have five viable options at the position, as it appears senior Allen Webb, who some thought was out of the race, still has what it takes to fight for the starting role. It's also clear that Dylan Meier still owns the respect of his teammates and coaches, plus he's again physically capable of competing.
Meier seemed to be the No. 4 quarterback throughout the spring behind sophomore Allan Evridge, true freshman Josh Freeman and redshirt freshman Kevin Lopina, but head coach Ron Prince singled out Meier's performance after the Spring Game. A case could be made that Meier might be the favorite heading into the fall.
