Boykin sets four visits

MORE 5-STAR CHALLENGE: Rosters - Scouting reports

BALTIMORE - Chicagoland wide receiver Miles Boykin trimmed his list to ten at the end of May, and now he will take a closer look at several of the remaining schools this month.

After he returns from the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour this weekend, Boykin will travel down to Indiana on June 10, Missouri on June 13, Notre Dame on June 14 and wrap up the ten-day tour with a trip down to Florida on June 19. He'll be evaluating several factors at each school while on campus.

"One of them is getting comfortable with the players," Boykin said. "I don't think you can go to a school and not be comfortable with the players they already have there because you'll be playing with them for the next three years."

Indiana will lead off the four-trip stanza for Boykin, who goes into the visit already having a base understanding of what the Hoosiers provide.

"I have been down there once, but now I am looking to go down there and talk to the coaching staff more, meet some of the players and see how I fit in the program," Boykin said.

These four trips will precede a second planned cut in mid-July, where Boykin is aiming to get his list down to five schools. Three schools already sit in good position for that cut.

"The ones I have a really good feeling about are Illinois, Michigan State and Notre Dame right now just because I have been down there so many times," Boykin said. "I just feel comfortable there, but we'll definitely see about these other schools."

Notre Dame is a school that currently sits in good position to make the next cut, and one Boykin will visit next week.

"I am going down there this time and I'm going to talk with Coach (Mike) Denbrock about how they are going to use me in the offense," Boykin said. "He is going to show me some clips and just get me more comfortable with the system."

Although Illinois is not in the immediate visit plans, Boykin has been to Champaign repeatedly and continues to maintain close contact with their staff.

"Coach (Tim) Beckman, Coach (Mike) Bellamy and Coach (Bill) Cubit, I love talking to all of them and talk to them all the time," Boykin said. "I feel very comfortable there, it is just a matter of how they are going to use me in the offense, which I am going to sit down and talk to them about."

Although not set, Boykin is considering additional visits this summer before cutting his list down to five.

"Oregon and Virginia Tech, those are the two schools I want to get out to the most this summer just to see how I like it," Boykin said. "I think those are places where you could leave saying, 'I could really see myself playing there,' or 'this just isn't the place for me.'"

A final five could be announced as soon as next month, so the visits coming up are important events in Boykin's recruitment.
