Five Questions: Kansas
After two of the last three weeks off, Oklahoma State is back in action, traveling to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the Kansas Jayhawks tomorrow. We hit up JayhawkSlant.com's Jon Kirby with five questions about Saturday's game.
1. The Jayhawks obviously made a change at head coach, but the results through five games haven't been much different from the last two. Is there hope in Lawrence that Charlie Weis is turning the ship around?
There is hope. Anybody that has watched the team sees improvement. They let two fourth quarter leads slip away in the non conference. They battled hard against TCU. Against Kansas State they were very much in the game mid-way through the third quarter. That is more than they can say over the last two years.
Kansas progress isn't just measured right now by wins and losses. When Weis took over it was in bad shape in all facets. There have been several strides. They set an all-time record for team GPA last spring. The strength and conditioning program is in much better shape.
Now Weis biggest challenge is getting the players to learn how to handle adversity. That isn't going to happen overnight.
2. The Weis dust-up with the KU student newspaper - distraction, or blown out of proportion?
Without a doubt, blown out of proportion.
3. Who are some Jayhawks to watch on both sides of the ball?
