Hutchings has 'extreme' interest in Oregon
De La Salle is a high school football powerhouse which consistently produces BCS-level recruits every year. This year is no exception. Outside linebacker Michael Hutchings is the No. 17 rated player in the country and has offers from across the nation to provide further evidence.
Duck Sports Authority spoke with the blue-chip defender to get an update on how the recruiting process is progressing, and which schools are in the hottest pursuit.
"USC, Notre Dame and UCLA have been up there and have been coming after me the hardest," answered Hutchings. "There are no favorites. I was going to narrow it down in December but after signing day everything started heating up again for the Class of 2013 so I'm going to stay completely open. I realize more offers will just make it more difficult for me but I know my parents and I will sit down and we'll start cutting it down by the spring or summer."
Another Pac-12 school is in his top group despite not being as aggressive at this stage.
