Mullen still evaluating position battles
Mississippi State concluded their final afternoon practice of the week on Wednesday and will work Thursday and Friday evening to conclude the week.
Dan Mullen has made an effort to make sure to add new wrinkles to spice up practices this fall and today was no different. The first year head coach added crowd noise blaring from speakers throughout the practice session.
"It was a pretty good day," Mullen said. "We had the crowd noise out there today so that was good. We were just trying to focus and get ready for some of our road games in the SEC."
Mullen and his coaching staff continues their evaluation period and have yet to determine a depth chart for their season opener Sept. 5 against Jackson State.
"I think there are a lot of battles," Mullen said. "I don't think we are set at any position yet. I haven't looked down and said this is how we are going to be. I'm still looking at guys who can play. We are not going to play one guy an entire game at any position. We are going to be rotating guys so I'm trying to find guys who are going to be ready to get on the field."
The staff is not necessarily just searching for starters but adequate players at each position. Mullen hopes to have a depth chart complete by the middle of next week.
