Temple finally on top at tailback

Each day from now until March 13th, PowerMizzou.com will preview a different aspect of spring football 2007 for the Tigers. We begin with our in-depth preview of each position. Today, we look at tailback, one of the most intriguing spots on the roster.

The Starter: The Sun Bowl finally solidified what we've known for some time: Tony Temple is far and away the best back on this team. In that game, the staff finally just went with Temple down after down. It didn't hurt his chances that he held on to the ball. It is unfortunate it took until his senior season, but Temple will finally enter camp as the unquestioned number one back.

The Backup: Well, the depth chart probably says it will be Marcus Woods entering spring ball. By all accounts Woods has been a complete team player through some fumble problems last season. During that stint, Earl Goldsmith and Jimmy Jackson had chances to step to the forefront, but neither really did.
