Tracking the Commitments: Seventh Edition

While the Vanderbilt Commodores attempt to get back on the winning track this weekend against Georgia, the program's future continues to look up.

Vanderbilt currently has 21 committed prospects for a 2010 class that could be the best collection of talent in the program's recent history.

Each week, VandySports.com tracks the progress of every current Vanderbilt commitment during their senior seasons with the Commitment Tracker.



School: Roswell High, Roswell (Ga.)
Position: Wide Receiver

Last Week's Game: Roswell remained undefeated last weekend with a 45-7 home win against Wheeler. Future Vanderbilt receiver Chris Boyd did not register a catch in the game as he cramped up during the first half and was able to take the rest of the game off as the Hornets running game rolled all over Wheeler. The future Commodores pass catcher has reeled in 13 passes for 294 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.

Next Game: Roswell (6-0) will travel to Alpharetta High on Friday. All Hornets home games can be seen in streaming video at roswellfootball.org.


School: Brother Martin, New Orleans (La.)
Position: Cornerback

Last Week's Game: The Brother Martin Crusaders came up short in its annual rivalry with Archbishop Rummel last Friday, falling 13-7. Future Commodore cornerback Karl Butler and his defensive teammates played well during the game, limiting Rummel to just 152 yards on offense and forced two fumbles. However, Rummel was able to capitalize on some mistakes and pull away with the win. For the year, Butler has not seen too many passes thrown his way but has registered 24 tackles and forcing a fumble.

Next Game: Brother Martin (5-1) will have this weekend off. The Crusaders will return to the field on October 23rd, at St. Augustine.


School: Oak Mountain High, Birmingham (Ala.)
Position: Tight End

Last Week's Game: The Oak Mountain Eagles suffered their third straight loss over the weekend, dropping a 7-0 decision to Buckhorn. The Eagles offense continues to struggle under new leadership. Future Commodore tight end Davis Dudchock has caught 14 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown this season while also providing an extra blocker along the line of scrimmage.

Next Game: Oak Mountain (3-4) will travel to winless Thompson this Friday.


School: Southwest DeKalb High, Decatur (Ga.)
Position: Defensive Back

Last Week's Game: Southwest DeKalb returned to action last weekend with a 36-6 victory over Chamblee High. Future Vanderbilt defensive back Sharrod Golightly led a Panthers defense that forced several turnovers in the win. His official stats in the game however have yet to be reported. Golightly had recorded 47 tackles, including 26 solo through SW Dekalb's first five games. He has also racked up five tackles for loss, two interceptions and three forced fumbles.

Next Game: Southwest DeKalb (5-1) will travel to Lithonia on Friday.


School: Port Allen High, Port Allen (La.)
Position: Cornerback

Last Week's Game: The Port Allen Pelicans improved to 4-2 on the year with a 20-7 victory over Livonia last weekend. Vanderbilt cornerback commitment Andre Hal had another good game, racking up eight tackles as the Pelicans defense limited Livonia to just 95 yards of total offense. For the season, Hal has 36 tackles and has caught a pair of long touchdowns on offense. He is also averaging nearly 40 yards per return, with three scores.

Next Game: Port Allen (4-2) will face Plaquemine High on Friday.


School: Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey (N.J.)
Position: Defensive Tackle

Last Week's Game: The nationally ranked Don Bosco Ironmen improved to 4-0 with a dominating 71-0 win over Clifton last weekend. Vanderbilt defensive line commitment James Kittredge played both sides of the ball for the Ironmen in the win, leading the team in tackles for loss with four in a game in which the Ironmen limited Clifton to just 19 yards of total offense. He had six tackles overall. He also helped the Ironmen score eight touchdowns on offense while playing left tackle. For the year, Kittredge has graded out well at left tackle and has 17 tackles with six tackles for loss on defense.

Next Game: Don Bosco Prep (4-0) will travel to Kennedy for a game this Saturday. The Ironmen are currently ranked 2nd in the nation in the RivalsHigh Top 100 national rankings. They are also ranked 2nd in the USA Today's and ESPN's national polls.


School: South Gwinnett High, Snellville (Ga.)
Position: Wide Receiver

Last Week's Game: The South Gwinnett Comets had a bye last weekend. Vanderbilt receiver commit Jonathan Krause has caught 28 passes for 473 yards and five touchdowns. He is considered the top receiver in Gwinnett County.

Next Game: South Gwinnett (5-1) will return to the field this weekend as Parkview comes to town.


School: Stephenson High, Stone Mountain (Ga.)
Position: Safety

Last Week's Game: The Stephenson Jaguars improved to 6-0 on the year with a 41-7 win over Redan. Future Vanderbilt safety Kenneth Ladler keyed another solid defensive effort as the Jags shutdown the Redan offense. His official stats in the game are currently unavailable. Ladler had registered 35 tackles, with 22 tackles coming unassisted, an interception and a forced fumble through Stephenson's first five games.

Next Game: Stephenson (6-0) will face Martin Luther King this Friday in a nationally televised game on ESPNU. The game will air live at 7 p.m. CST.


School: Oxford High, Oxford (Ala.)
Position: Defensive Tackle

Last Week's Game: The Oxford Yellow Jackets improved to 6-2 with a 37-36 win over Clay-Chalkville last Friday. Future Vanderbilt defensive tackle Jared Morse registered a handful of tackles in the win. For the year, Morse has 47 total tackles with 17 resulting in a loss. He has also racked up 2.5 sacks, an interception, three pass breakups and a fumble return for a touchdown. He has also blocked a punt.

Next Game: Oxford (6-2) will travel to Shades Valley this Friday.


School: Calhoun High, Calhoun (Ga.)
Position: Quarterback

Last Week's Game: The Calhoun Yellow Jackets remain undefeated after a 27-12 win over Chattooga last Friday. Future Vanderbilt quarterback Nash Nance had another impressive night, throwing for 225 yards and running for another 85 in the victory. He was named the WRCB Channel 3 Player of the Week following the game. So far this season, Nance has completed over 60-percent of his passes for 1,101 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has also ran for 229 yards, including one a 33-yard run for a touchdown.

Next Game: Calhoun (6-0) will travel to travel to Sonoraville on Friday. All Yellow Jackets games are broadcasted online at webs1030am.com.


School: Allendale-Fairfax High, Allendale (S.C.)
Position: Athlete

Last Week's Game: Allendale-Fairfax improved to 6-1 on the year with a 41-6 win over Branchville last Friday. Vanderbilt commitment Jerrell Priester rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. Priester also caught a pass for 20 yards and accounted for a couple of tackles on defense. In six games this year, Priester has rushed for 771 yards and nine touchdowns on just 55 carries. He has also registered over 15 tackles on defense.

Next Game: Allendale-Fairfax (6-1) will travel to Bamberg-Ehrhardt this Friday.


School: Fitzgerald High, Fitzgerald (Ga.)
Position: Wide Receiver

Last Week's Game: Fitzgerald High improved to 5-0 on the season with a 42-12 over Cook last Friday. Future Vanderbilt receiver Trent Pruitt ran for 33 yards on eight carries and caught four passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Through the first five games of the season, Pruitt has accounted for 609 yards of total offense and 11 touchdowns on just 41 touches. He has caught 16 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns. This while playing in only about 13 quarters of football so far. He has also returned three kicks for 174 yards and a touchdown. The Hurricane have outscored their opponents 255-24 this season.

School: Pope High, Marietta (Ga.)
Position: Offensive Guard

Last Week's Game: Pope Greyhounds had the week off. They currently sit at 1-4 with three of the losses coming by a combined five points. Vanderbilt offensive guard commit Grant Ramsay has led a Pope offensive attack that has generated nearly 1,700 yards of offense with 912 yards coming on the ground.

Next Game: Pope (1-4) will face Campbell this Friday.


School: Peachtree Ridge High, Suwanee (Ga.)
Position: Wide Receiver

Last Week's Game: Peachtree Ridge had last weekend off. For the year, Roby has 13 catches for 202 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions run-heavy offense. He has also picked off four passes and has averaged over 38 yards per special teams return with three touchdowns.

Next Game: Peachtree Ridge (4-1) will host Mill Creek this Friday.


School: Wissahickon High, Ambler (Pa.)
Position: Running Back

Last Week's Game: The Wissahickon Trojans improved to 3-2 on the year with a 42-14 win over Episcopal Academy. Future Vanderbilt tailback Myron Ross led the Trojans with 126 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries. One of his touchdown runs went for 52 yards. Ross also forced a fumble while playing defense for the Trojans. For the season, Ross has gained 588 yards and six touchdowns on 58 carries. He has also returned a punt 96 yards for a score.

Next Game: Wissahickon (3-2) will travel to Cheltenham this Friday.


School: Marathon High, Marathon (Fla.)
Position: Defensive End

Last Week's Game: The Marathon Dolphins dropped to 1-3 on the year with a 42-21 loss to Dade Christian. Future Vanderbilt defensive end Thomas Ryan tried to lead his defense, registering 16 tackles two sacks and a tackle for loss, but Marathon made too many mistakes and Dade's skilled position players got too many chances to score in the game. For the year, Ryan has racked up 46 total tackles with nine resulting in a loss and four sacks while playing middle linebacker for the Dolphins. Ryan has also forced and recovered a fumble and scored a defensive touchdown.

Next Game: Marathon (1-3) will host Parkway Academy this Friday.


School: South County School, Lorton (Va.)
Position: Safety

Last Week's Game: The South County Stallions improved to 4-1 with a 23-7 win over West Potomac last Friday. Future Vanderbilt safety Andre Simmons had another big game, racking up eight tackles and picking off a pass in the win. He also rushed for 56 yards on four carries. For the year, Simmons has led a Stallions defense that has yielded just 49 total points. He has also picked off a couple of passes, registered a number of tackles and defended several passes. He has also scored three touchdowns, averaged over 35 yards per special teams return.

Next Game: South County (4-1) will host West Springfield this Friday.


School: Boiling Springs High, Spartanburg (S.C.)
Position: Offensive Lineman

Last Week's Game: Boiling Springs moved to 6-0 for the first time in school history with a 24-10 win over Fort Mill. Vanderbilt commit Logan Stewart helped the Bulldogs generate 295 total yards of ofefnse. For the year, Stewart and the Bulldogs offense has generated well over 2,495 yards of offense including over 1,350 yards through the air.

Next Game: Boiling Springs (6-0) will travel to Hillcrest on Friday.


School: Oak Grove High, Hattiesburg (Miss.)
Position: Defensive Tackle

Last Week's Game: The Oak Grove Warriors suffered a shocking 48-45 loss at Natchez last Friday. The Oak Grove defense struggled in the game, giving up the most points in over a year. For the year, future Vanderbilt defensive lineman Vince Taylor has unofficially racked up 40 tackles with seven for loss and three sacks. He also forced three fumbles and recovered two.

Next Game: Oak Grove (5-0) will face Meridan this Friday.


School: Plano West High, Plano (Texas)
Position: Offensive Lineman

Last Week's Game: The Plano West Wolves won a true shootout last Friday, besting McKinney Boyd by a final score of 84-40. Vanderbilt offensive line commit Chase White and his offensive teammates found the end zone 11 times and generated over 647 yards of total offense, including 396 yards through the air. For the year, White has helped the Wolves offense post 2,961 yards of total offense, with 1,957 passing yards. The team has scored 239 points in its six games this season.

School: Walton High, Marietta (Ga.)
Position: Defensive Tackle

Last Week's Game: The Walton Raiders had last weekend off. For the year, the future Vanderbilt defensive lineman Kyle Woestmann has helped the Walton offense generate 1,902 total yards while playing offensive tackle. He has also registered 14 total tackles, including a sack, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries on defense.

Next Game: Walton (5-0) will travel to Milton this Friday.
