If another man is out with your wife, a punch to his face is an understandable option. If it were me, a solid punch would be something I would consider. The guy dying as a result would not have entered the realm of possible consequences.

Whether the coach did or didn't have a sexual relationship with another man's wife, he was definitely a target if the husband got the wrong message.

On the surface, it appears the husband felt there was legitimate reason to suspect his wife and another man were inappropriate. A punch is an acceptable solution throughout history. It's unfortunate that it became more than what likely was intended."

Stupid assumption. Chris Matthews, the now-deceased girls soccer coach had no inappropriate relationship with the woman whose husband hit him. This is a tragedy that has damaged two families. Chris Matthews has a 14 year old son, Blake, who has lost a Dad as a freshman in high school. The Newman family has a daughter at Stratford (a junior that plays soccer) and a set of 8th grade twins.
