GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina back-up quarterback Rob Kass is moving to tight end - a determination made mutually in an effort to get the senior on the field a lot more.

The Longwood, Florida product has thrown for nearly 1,700 yards in his three years at East Carolina in limited duty.

It won't be the first time for the Pirates in converting a former quarterback to tight end. Scott Richards, Davon Drew, Arnie Powell and others made the switch in the past with solid results.

This could turn out to be a very interesting move for Kass. He is excited about the possibility of appearing in the same backfield with sixth year senior ECU signal caller Patrick Pinkney in spot fullback/H-Back duty too.

Catch Rob Kass in this PI Preseason Profile as Pirate Illustrated's 2009 Fall Football Camp coverage continues.
