NEW ORLEANS, La. - Luther Ambrose of the ULM track team was named Indoor Runner of the Week by the Sun Belt Conference for the week of Feb. 15-22, the league announced from its New Orleans office Wednesday afternoon.

Ambrose, competing in his first meet of the season, set a ULM record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.79 seconds at the LSU Twilight this past Friday. His efforts were good enough for a third-place finish in the race as he missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships by just five hundredths of a second.

"It's nice when one of your athletes receives an honor like this," head coach JD Malone said. "It serves as recognition for the good job they've done. Luther is a terrific student-athlete. We expect this to be the start of a strong season for him."

Ambrose and the rest of the Warhawks will be back in action at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Jonesboro, Ark., starting Saturday.
