Group AA All-State Teams

Group AA Player of the Year:?

Andrea Barbour, Charlottesville High School -- Barbour culminated her senior season with averages of 24.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 2.7 assists.? Barbour is also ranked third in career scoring in Virginia High School League history with 2,482 points. La'Keshia Frett, a Phoebus High graduate is in first place with 3,290 career points, while Jasmine Thomas of Oakton High (2007) is second with 2,958 career points.

Barbour is an AAU Standout and recently led her team to national runner-up of the AAU Junior Olympics.? She is ranked at in the top 25 players, in the nation by BlueStar Index at #21.? She is a two-time Street & Smith's Preseason HM All America , as well as a host of other awards and honors.

Barbour has signed to continue her academic and athletic pursuits at Virginia Tech University next year where she will compete in the ACC.

First Team:

  • Abby Oliver, Junior - Hidden Valley / Crafty high percentage shooter who averaged 16 points, 3.2????? assists and 2.8 rebounds for Hidden Valley , which finished 29-1. She had 32 in the Group AA State Championship game.

  • Abby Redick, Sophomore - Hidden Valley / Versatile 6'1 guard/forward who averaged 13.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists. She scored 19 in the Group AA State Championship.

  • Brooke Shepherd - Virginia High / An excellent scoring forward and AAU Standout that led Virginia High to the Group AA State Semi-finals. Signed with Alabama-Birmingham University

  • Devon Brown, Junior - Waynesboro / Top scorer in Group AA - averaged 27.7 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

  • Jordan Burkholder ? Turner Ashby / 5-foot-8 guard who averaged 17.8 points as the Knights won 27 games in a row before losing to Charlottesville in the Region II tournament championship game.? Helped lead Turner Ashby to the Group AA State Semi-finals.

  • Kierra Parker ? Riverbend / One of the top scoring point guards in Group AA with excellent range.? Helped lead Riverbend to the Group AA State Quarter-finals.

  • Kylee Beecher, Junior - Hidden Valley / A 6'3 post player that knows how to seal defenders.? Helped lead Hidden Valley to the Group AA State Championship.

Second Team:

  • Ashley Jones ? Brookville / Shooting guard and defensive catalyst.? Helped lead Brookville to the Group AA State Quarter-finals.

  • Kari Jackson ? Abingdon / 23.3 point per game average and a 52.2 percent field goal accuracy, Jackson helped lead her team Group AA state quarterfinals.

  • Kendra Allen ? Charlottesville / Crafty guard that helped lead Charlottesville to Group AA Championship Runner-up.

  • Krystal Garrison ? Courtland / Excellent 3-point shooter with over 1,800 career points.? Helped lead Courtland to the Group AA State Quarter-finals.

  • Nikki Newman, Soph. ?- Turner Ashby / Athletic forward/post who helped lead Turner Ashby to the state semi-finals.

  • Stacy Griffith ? Riverbend / Athletic forward that can do it all, score, rebound, block shots.? Helped lead Riverbend to the Group AA State Quarter-finals.? Signed with University of Central Florida

  • Taryn Russ ? Handley / A 5-8 guard that committed to North Carolina AT&T, making her the first girl's basketball player from John Handley High School to play Division I. Russ is third on Handley's all-time scoring list with 1,577 career points.
