Strengths: At 6-11, Davis has excellent size to play either the power forward or center position. While heís not a tremendous athlete, he is certainly more athletic than most give him credit for, particularly in the way he runs the floor. Offensively, Davis is a fairly skilled player. He has range on his jump-shot out to the NCAA 3-point line, and is very good from mid-range in particular. His ball-handling skills are also above average for a player his size. Passing the ball out of the high or low post, Davis shows a lot of smarts and generally has a good feel for the game. When motivated, Davis can be very active around the basket to pull down rebounds and play ample defense. In terms of intangibles, Davis checks out very well.
Weaknesses: The biggest questions concern his toughness, mentally and physically. Davis has had a tendency to shy away from contact on both ends of the floor, and has been inconsistent both from game to game and even from half to half. He appears to lose his focus quite easily, so there are some concerns about how heíll be able to deal with a grueling 82+ game schedule as a focal point for his teamís offense. Offensively, Davis is at times very much content fading away for turnaround jump-shots out of the post or floating to the perimeter rather than taking the ball strong at his defender. His ability to score with his back to the basket at the next level is still very much a question mark.
