Huge win as Tigers even SEC record
Tay Waller had a career-high 32 points including eight 3-pointers to lead Auburn to a 91-76 win over Mississippi State Saturday afternoon at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum.
"It just felt good today," Waller said. "At shoot-around, I was very loose today for some reason and it just carried over to the game. It felt good the whole game."
Waller nailed his first five 3-pointers and finished 8-of-12 from beyond the arc. The junior guard added a career-high nine rebounds.
"Not only was (Tay) good today offensively, he rebounded the basketball and that was a key for us," AU head coach Jeff Lebo said. "You look at our games, when he scores a lot it's like energy to our team. He's one of those guys, when he gets going, the rest of our guys play with a little bit more juice."
The win, AU's third-straight, moved the Tigers to 16-9 overall and 5-5 in the SEC. It's the first time AU has been .500 or better in the second half of the conference play in the Lebo era.
