Lee reacts to Mullen's hire
Throughout his career, Dan Mullen has developed a string of talented quarterbacks.
Tyson Lee hopes to be the next in line of Mullen's pupils callers behind the likes of Tim Tebow, Chris Leak and Alex Smith.
Lee mixed in among the hundreds of Mississippi State fans inside the Templeton Athletic Academic Center on Thursday to welcome the new head coach to campus.
"It is exciting," Lee said immediately following the pep rally. "He has passion, he has energy and has a vision for the future of what he wants for this program. When you see that, it can only make you the same way."
Lee, a lifelong Bulldog fan himself from nearby Columbus, waited just like everyone else 11 days to find out who director of athletics Greg Byrne would hire to replace Sylvester Croom at the helm of the program.
"It has been really crazy," said Lee. "Mr. Byrne kept it very secret. You heard a lot of stories about what was going on but you never knew and we were all ready to find out who it was. Now we know Coach Mullen is our coach and we are excited to see the staff he is going to bring and get this program in the right direction."
With only one season of eligibility left, Lee hopes to have a smooth transition as the players get adjusted to the new staff over the coming months.
