It might be tough to believe but the current weather forecast calls for clearing for Saturday as the Stanford Cardinal visits Eugene for a crucial Pac-10 tilt. Rain or shine, Duck fans will have plenty to cheer about as the #1 running back in the nation will be in Eugene for an official visit.

Duck Sports Authority has confirmed that Wichita, Kansas running back Bryce Brown will be in Eugene to take in the town this weekend. Brown is the #1 rated running back and the #3 rated overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com. Considered to be a soft commit to the University of Miami where his brother Arthur Brown committed as a linebacker as a member of the class of 2008.

The definition of soft commit is when a recruit says publicly they will attend a certain school but that they will continue to take official recruiting visits. In Bryce Brown's case, he committed to his brother's school in February but has continued to take visits and express interest in other schools. Brown completed an official visit to Missouri the weekend of October 25th and told PowerMizzou.com he is still considering three.

"I think it's going to come down to Oregon, Missouri and Miami," Brown asserted. "I have a grade sheet that my brother filled out last year. I'll fill that out and my family and I will pray about it. I'll have to see Oregon, but Missouri would be a great fit for me."

While originally trying to work out a visit to Eugene in December, a window of opportunity came up for this weekend and the two parties seized upon it. Duck fans who have followed recruiting understand how important it is particularly for Oregon to get recruits to visit. The bonus for this visit is that Brown gets to see a game.

One thing working in Oregon's favor and perhaps part of the reason he is particularly interested is his friendship with his former high school teammate Oregon freshman Chris Harper. Harper has shown flashes of brilliance after being moved to wide receiver and perhaps will show Brown on Saturday how a properly motivated player can earn early playing time in Eugene.

Chip Kelly, who also recruited Harper, is the primary recruiter for the blue-chip athlete as Oregon divides its recruiting geographically. Kelly recruits the farthest reaches of anybody on the Ducks staff, with such locales as the east coast and Texas in his stomping grounds.
