Reviewing 7-on-7 - Part II
If spring workouts are any indication then the Bruins will have playmakers at the wide receiver position, plus there will be ample experience at the position that is why if UCLA gets efficient .quarterback play then this group has the opportunity for being pretty good. The tight end position also looked good and could be dangerous weapon for UCLA, if of course, they get efficient quarterback play.
Senior Marcus Everett looked like he is poised for having a career year. He was very consistent from the gate. His route running was outstanding and he even looked faster. He was able to get open on short routes and burn the defense deep. He showed no ill-effects from his season ending injury a year ago. If Everett continues to play the way he did this summer, he could have a special year.
Another senior, Ryan Graves had several good practices. He played like a guy who knows that it is now or never for him. The thing that kept him off the field after being a big time recruit out of Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice was consistency. He will need to prove to the new coaches, it is now his time. He will need to a great training camp to hold off some of the younger players vying for playing time.
The tight end position could be a definite strength even with Nate Chandler moving to offensive tackle.
Someone must be paying attention to the reports coming from the summer sessions because senior Logan Paulsen is on the John Mackey watch list, the award given to college football's most outstanding tight end. Paulsen looks ready to have a career year. He's running great routes and is much more consistent making catches. He is also one of the team leaders and is liked and respected by his teammates. Paulson has one of the coolest nicknames on the team, "Tarzan." I can it hear it now, 90,000 plus Bruin fans doing the Tarzan scream when Paulsen scores a touchdown.
