Tigers face tough challenge at MSU
Auburn won't have much time to celebrate it big win over Alabama Sunday as the Tigers travel to SEC West-leading Mississippi State Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (18-8, 9-3 SEC) have won four of their last five games including an 83-64 dismantling of Auburn at Beard-Eaves Feb. 9.
The Tigers (14-11, 4-8) have won 2-of-3 and are tied with Ole Miss and a game ahead of both LSU and Alabama for third place in the West.
For AU to pull off a big road upset they'll likely need another big game from sophomore Lucas Hargrove who lit up Alabama for 28 points in only his second college start.
Hargrove shot 9-of-12 from the floor including 3-of-6 3-pointers.
"Lucas was terrific shooting the basketball for us. We hope it will continue," said AU head coach Jeff Lebo. "He was active offensively. He took the ball to the bucket a few times well. He got to the foul line and made his free throws.
"His confidence shooting the ball from three has been an area where he maybe made the biggest improvement."
