Blakeney no stranger to the SEC
Troy coach Larry Blakeney joked Wednesday that he probably knows the SEC better than any coach in America.
It has nothing to with the fact that he graduated from Auburn in 1970.
When the Trojans travel to Athens for Saturday's game against the 10th-ranked Bulldogs, Georgia will be the third SEC team Troy has faced this year after opening the season at Arkansas and Florida.
Offensively, the Trojans held their own.
Troy scored 26 points against the Razorbacks (a 46-26) loss and 31 against the Gators (a 59-31 defeat) in what's been the Trojans' only two losses.
"We didn't play as good as we needed to for four quarters to win either one of those, but in some cases we played good enough for a quarter, and sometimes two," Blakeney said. "We've got to play 60 minutes against teams from the SEC, but we haven't been able to do that to this point."
Since joining Division I-A in 2001, the Trojans are 1-7 against teams from the SEC, and that year actually defeated Mississippi State 20-9.
Troy's success outside of the SEC has been much better.
