Harris, Onuaku steal Madness show
Midnight Madness returned to Syracuse last Friday as the men's and women's basketball teams proudly strutted their stuff in Manley Field House in front of nearly 5,000 fans eager for the season to start.
ESPN's Bill Raftery served as the master of ceremonies as the crowd got to know this year's Orange teams. The show began with an introduction of the women's team, followed by a short scrimmage.
Then the Field House got loud as the men's team was announced. This year's vaunted freshman class gestured to the crowd and got it rocking.
The Orange split up for a scrimmage while the video board showed classic highlights of Head Coach Jim Boeheim. Most of the clips featured Boeheim gesturing wildly and pleading with referees from the sideline.
Shortly after the video montage ended, the honorary referee for the scrimmage was introduced: Boeheim himself.
He was driven out on a golf cart with his family in tow, sporting the black and white referee's uniform and a whistle to call the game.
