Kicking may be a challenge at Heinz
STORRS, Conn. - After Tony Ciaravino was named the Big East Special Teams Player of the Week Monday afternoon, head coach Randy Edsall had just one bit of advice for his kicker.
Don't let it get to your head.
Ciaravino, who won the starting kicking job over true freshman Dave Teggart near the end of fall camp, booted a trio of field goals - one a 24-yarder and two career-longs, one from 47 yards and one from 50 yards - in the Huskies' 22-17 win at home against Temple last weekend.
It wasn't the first time Ciaravino connected with three field goals, having done it already in the season-opener at Duke Sept. 1. But this time, Ciaravino's kicks displayed plenty of loft and distance, sending them not only through the uprights but sailing into the top of the net.
