D-line comes around
Pitt's defensive linemen went into last Saturday's game against Michigan State with an extra motivation.
"As a front we all came out and basically dedicated our game to Gus," senior defensive end Joe Clermond said on Tuesday, in reference to junior tackle Gus Mustakas, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the Panthers' game against Grambling.
"Every time we made a play we did the sign of the 'X' and that's usually Gus' thing."
If the sign of the X is Mustakas' calling card, he certainly got the message on Saturday, as Pitt's defensive linemen seemed to be crossing their arms more than former Panther hoopster Carl Krauser at the foul line. And all those X's were the result of something the Pitt football team hasn't seen in quite awhile:
