Q: What's going on at safety?

Ponder: Me, Willie Cooper and Kenny Phillips are rotating in as the ones at safety. I guess we're going to play like that throughout the season.

Q: Doesn't the team usually use four safeties in a rotation?

Ponder: Yes. We also have Joseph Nicolas, who is doing real well at safety. And then also Jared Campbell, he can play. If we go down or need to get deep in the depth chart, we're still good.

Q: You lost Brandon Meriweather and have Glenn Sharpe and Randy Phillips out with injury for right now. Do you see things from the defensive backs unit that has you thinking this unit will be strong?

Ponder: We're a good group. We stick together and play together. We have talented guys out there that really play. Even if Glenn's not ready and with Brandon gone to the NFL, we've still got guys that can really play.
