Early decision and signing period: a good thing?
As college football recruiting has become much more visible over the past decade with the rise of Internet sites that closely cover the moves of the participants, the methodology of both prospects and coaches has gradually changed.
Gone are the days of a prospect shying away from recruiting coverage and in their place are glamorous press conferences, 11th hour decisions, and constant changes in a prospect's top schools as he visits one or another one tells him what he wants to hear. To be fair, it is not the same with all prospects and there are still plenty that would rather keep a low profile and commit early-some very early. But is this a good thing, and what about an early signing period?
