SEC rules on fifth year for Stamper
The Natiional Collegiate Athletic Association has denied Vanderbilt senior Brian Stamper a fifth year of eligibility, VandySports.com has learned.
Stamper hurt his back before the season, and attempted to play his way through the injury. He played just a handful of plays in the Commodores' victories over Tennessee State and Temple--Vandy's fourth and fifth games of the year--before the decision was made to sit him the remainder of the season.
Vanderbilt hoped that Stamper would be granted an extra year because of limited participation in those two games.
