A holiday-style look at Vanderbilt football
The 2006 season is over, and Vanderbilt fans are already looking to 2007 as a "turning point" year for the program.
With Thanksgiving here and Christmas on the horizon, VandySports.com's Chris Lee looks at what Commodore fans can be thankful for, and what they might want to ask Santa for in 2007.
Be thankful for: Quarterback Chris Nickson.
Yes, he made some bad throws this year into double-coverage. Yes, he was scatter-armed at times. Yes, he often did some bad things that fans don't normally see, such as reading defensive ends wrong and handing off to a tailback who got creamed as soon as the ball got there.
He also improved as the year went on, made a ton of plays that no other quarterback in the Southeastern Conference can make. You heard it here first: Nickson will be a legitimate candidate for SEC player of the year at least one, if not both, of his last two years on campus.
