The Georgia players enjoyed the nice weather Thursday
in Athens as they went through their final practice in preparation for the Vanderbilt
game Saturday.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt will be enjoying
nice weather this January when he joins West Virginia head coach
Rich Rodriguez�s
staff in Hawaii to coach the Hula Bowl.

�Rich Rodriguez is actually the coach and we will
work on the same team and I want to see if I can learn something,� said
Richt jokingly of Rodriguez with his former opponent.

Coach Richt will bring some familiar Georgia faces with
him to Hawaii. Associate head coach John Eason, defensive coordinator
Willie Martinez, and offensive coordinator Neil Callaway will
join Richt on the sideline in Hawaii.

�They have changed their format so we will take
the associate head coach John Eason and our two coordinators which is what Rich
basically did,� said Richt. �I was a little bit reluctant to on
who to take because you are worried about morale, but if I had gone without
them then West Virginia would have six coaches and then morale would be even
worse. The coaches took it pretty good, I told them this morning and three guys
were real happy and the other guys were ok.�

The 2007 Hula Bowl takes place on January 14, 2007 in
Honolulu in Aloha Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 8:30 pm EST.
This will be the 61st Hula Bowl.

The Hula Bowl invites some of college football�s
best seniors to compete in an all-star exhibition game. Former Georgia defensive
tackle Gerald Anderson played in the 2006 Hula Bowl.

Starting running back to be announced before
kickoff

Coach Richt did not announce a starter for the Vanderbilt
game yet. Running backs Coach
Tony Ball has made his decision on the
starter and they will announce the starter before kickoff Saturday.

The three tailbacks, juniors Kregg Lumpkin,
Thomas Brown, and
Danny Ware have all started and played well for Georgia
during their careers. Lumpkin is leading the team with 347 yards and two touchdowns.
Ware is second on the team in rushing with 188 yards and two touchdowns and
Brown has 181 yards and one rushing touchdown this season.

�It comes down to the same old story where both
guys are number one running backs,� said Richt. �They have both
been starters, they both have done well, and even Danny Ware has too.�

Ware did not play in the Tennessee game because coach
Ball wanted to keep Lumpkin and Brown in the game because both were playing
so well. Lumpkin finished with 78 yards on 13 carries and Brown ran for 57 yards
on just eight carries.

Coach Richt hopes to get Ware some work this week at tailback.

�That is the bigger question who much work will
Danny get and hopefully he will get more work,� said Richt of Ware.

The Georgia coaches said that poor pass protection in
Saturday�s loss to Tennessee was the reason they are considering a change.
Lumpkin improved his blocking during practice this week and he hopes to keep
his starting spot.

�He gave great effort and he knew we were watching
him every step of the way,� said Richt of Lumpkin�s work this week.
�He knows whether he starts or does not start he needs to block better.
That point has gotten across, so now it is a matter of he will follow through
with what it takes.�

No matter who starts all three backs will have a chance
to carry the ball this week according to the coaches.

McKinzey likely done for the season

Junior guard
Zeb McKinzey will apparently not
play for Georgia this season due to a cronic shoulder injury. Coach Richt before
practice Thursday dashed any hopes of seeing McKinzey on the field this season.

�I would say there is less than a one percent chance
(he will play this season),� said Richt.

McKinzey is not a likely candidate for a medical redshirt
because his freshman redshirt year was not for medical reasons. Georgia may
still try and seek a medical redshirt for McKinzey.

Coach Richt said that the team usually could tell if they
will get the medical redshirt before they submit the request, but he does not
think McKinzey is a likely candidate.

�We kind of know the deal when we send one in that
is not necessarily a slam dunk. Since I have been coaching I have not been surprised
on any one yet,� said Richt of the medical redshirt requests.

Former player and coach Mrvos passes away

Sam Mrvos a kicker and offensive line for Georgia
from 1951-53 and defensive line coach from 1968-77 passed away Thursday at age
76. Coach Mrvos died in a single-car accident in Oconee County.

Coach Mrvos severed as the defensive line, kicking, and
scout team coach during his time with the Bulldog football team. He was also
the athletic weight coach for all of Georgia�s sports other than football.
Coach Mrvos spent over twenty years working for the University�s Physical
Education Department.

Mrvos is survived by his wife Reba and their sons, George
and Nick.

Former Georgia head coach and Athletic Director Vince
Dooley said this of Mrvos in the Georgia press release; �Our thoughts
and prayers go out to Reba and the family on the tragic loss of Sam. Coach Mrvos
was a tremendous help in getting us started in the early years at Georgia as
the B-team and weight training coach. I remember he and Reba were newlyweds
when we went to the Sun Bowl that very first year, and she was expecting their
first child, George. We all have wonderful, special memories of Sam. Our hearts
really go out to Reba and the family."

Injury Update

Redshirt freshman Donavon Baldwin was back in
his normal white jersey after injuring his shoulder earlier this week. Baldwin
will be ready to go Saturday for the Vanderbilt game.

Freshman guard Chris Davis is still being bothered
by a hip flexor injury and was in a green jersey today. Joining Davis in green
were wide receivers Tony Wilson (shoulder) and Sean Bailey
(knee).

Georgia is 11-2 under coach Richt following a loss. Georgia
is 66-16-2 in Homecoming games since 1922 and they Bulldogs have won their last
11 straight home coming matchups.
