Panthers march over The Citadel
For their game against Pitt at Heinz Field on Saturday, The Citadel brought along the Summerall Guards, the military school's precision drill squad. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, that was the only precision in a Citadel uniform on the day, as the Panthers marched all over the visitors en route to a 51-6 victory.
In the wake of a 38-23 beating at the hands of Michigan State last week, Saturday's win was welcomed by Pitt head coach Dave Wannstedt.
"We talked all week about bouncing back and getting ready, no matter who the opponent is, and I thought our guys did that," Wannstedt said. "Our players really did a good job of coming out ready to play. It's early in the year yet, but it's three wins."
The Panthers' third win was a showcase for the team's strong points: effective, swarming defense, and quick, potent offense, and it didn't take long for those traits to go on display against The Citadel.
