Stoops concerned about tackling tactics

One of the most dangerous tackles in professional football is starting to creep into the college game. Former Sooner Roy Williams' horse collar tackle of Terrell Owens almost two years ago was cause for a rule change in NFL football.

Players were no longer able to grab players by the back of their shoulder pads and pull them down from behind.

But after three games this season, it appears Adrian Peterson has been a victim of those types of tackles at the college level. And it's something Bob Stoops has started to notice more frequently.

"You see more and more of it and it is dangerous for all the young guys," Stoops said. "I've noticed it with other players on tape as well."

Peterson was taken down awkwardly from behind during the Oregon game. The announcers on television immediately noticed the way Peterson went to the ground and even commented that he might have been injured during the play.
