*Starting quarterback Chase Daniel made a couple of very nice throws on the scrimmage's opening possession. Daniel hit Brad Ekwerekwu on the left sideline early in the drive. Ek dotted the sideline with one toe to make the catch. Following a ten-yard run by Marcus Woods, Daniel found the end zone. He lofted an underthrown pass to William Franklin in double coverage. Franklin made the adjustment with the ball in the air to bring in the TD for the first score of the day after a five-play drive.
*On his second carry of the day, freshman Connell Davis had a reoccurence of what plagued him in the first scrimmage. Davis fumbled the ball away on his own 30 after a hit from Marcus Bacon.
*On the next series, Davis carried three consecutive times for 17 yards, though.
*On back to back plays, Chase Patton demonstrated what has Missouri fans perplexed. He threw a near interception on one snap and then threaded a bullet into Martin Rucker for about 20 yards in double coverage. By the way, Rucker should come close to the school record for receptions this season.
*If Missouri's defensive backs learn to catch, they'll be dangerous. Trenile Washington and Alex Woodley both dropped sure picks early on.
*For now it appears Woods and Earl Goldsmith are the top two punt returners. Matt Hoenes far outperformed Adam Crossett punting the ball. The problem is that Hoenes has been great in practice for two years, but never very good in games.
*Missouri signees Bart Coslet and Jeremy Maclin were at the scrimmage.
*I think Xzavie Jackson has a chance to finally have the year we've all expected. He is moved all over in this defensive scheme. He's an end, he's a blitzer, they stand him up sometimes. Jackson had an interception of Patton late in the day.
