Doege preps for defining moment
As usual, Seth Doege was in high demand at Texas Tech's media luncheon.
But in between lunch and the radio interviews and the press conference at the podium and then one-on-one interviews his attention was on a young boy named Miles.
Miles has been battling cancer for years but he was healthy enough to meet his favorite Red Raider and take a tour of Tech's football facilities Monday -- two days after Heisman Trophy and Big 12 Championship hopes pretty much died on the vine simultaneously for Doege. It didn't seem to bother the quarterback or Miles in this moment.
Miles, in a No. 7 jersey with the quarterback's autograph on his left shoulder, watched in awe as Doege stood up to the cameras and took very little heat for the loss at Kansas State, then threw the ball around on the Tech practice field and then the two took a tour of the football training facility side by side.
And as this picturesque scene played out the thought occurs Doege truly has been a gift to people who follow Tech football.
